Sacred Mountain Run July 23rd - 29th, 2005
During the Sacred Mountain Run in July 2005, my family and I were honored to be in the presence of the San Carlos Apache Runners including people from different races, with different beliefs and from different countries. We have met with so many inspiring and humble people during this journey for us. These people ran from Mount Graham, totaling 354 miles to the San Fransisco Peaks. It took them a whole week to complete this sacred journey and we were blessed to catch up with them for the last 2 days. They are the meaning of unity, respect, cultural awareness, pride, strength, determination and above all, family. The San Carlos Apahce are the example of what we, Natives, need to be doing to educate and unite as one. They are like family to us, they have left us with so many great memories and left us with inspiring words. We will never forget you and you will always be in our hearts and prayers! Thank You!
